Budapest Sights, Sounds and Hotels
On Castle Hill in Budapest is the famous Fishermen’s Bastion, a viewing platform that was constructed in 1905, and named in recognition of the guild of fishermen who defended the wall in the middle ages. A statue of St Stephen on horseback, and seven gleaming turrets, signifying the seven Magyar tribes who crossed the threshold of the Carpathian Basin in the 9th century, dominate the Fisherman’s Bastion. The views of Budapest from the vantage point of Fishermen’s Bastion are incomparable.
