The original building of the Paglio di Parte Guelfa in Florence dates back to the 13th century, and has been remodelled and added to down the ages. Involved in the reconstruction of the Palagio di Parte Guelfa were both Brunilleschi and Vasari. Luca dell Robbia, the architect of refined ceramics created the lunette on the door depicting the Madonna and Child. During the turmoil of the conflict with the Ghibellini, Florence’s Palagio di Parte Guelfa was the seat of the Guelph faction.
